Description
du Roy' means 'lands of the king'. The vineyards are situated on land which was once two lakes, Rochefort and Pujaut. The lakes were artificially drained in 1612 to provide feuding parties more land for agricultural use. The wine is vinified in a modern winery that was renovated in 2001.
Vineyards
The vineyards are planted on soils covered with pebbles located on hills overlooking the Pujaut plain, seven kilometres north of Avignon. The vines are on average 40 years old and the vineyards are managed sustainably. As the vineyards are located in the Southern Rhone, the wines here are riper and richer with a little more body.
Vinification
The wine is fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and has no oak influence, resulting in a wine with intense primary fruit aromas and vibrancy.
Tasting Notes
This Côtes du Rhône has an enticing nose that is ripe and concentrated, full of black and red berry fruit. It is supple, rich yet balanced with crisp acidity. It is delightful to drink now, on its own or paired with charcuterie, lamb or beef dishes.
