Nibbles - Our June Newsletter!

Flaming June! Yes! Already!

Back in April we mentioned that we were updating our website. Well, we have and we launched it last week!
We want you to share in our love of the Cotswolds, along with our passion for cheese from local dairies, other quality products from local producers and Artisan cheesemakers from further afield. We created our new website with this in mind and hope to have captured the essence of the Cotswolds for you to enjoy.
It is important for us that your on-line shopping experience is a pleasure – from the first click to the washing up! We still have work to do in developing how we can help you select perfect combinations of cheese and its accompaniments. But we hope you like what you see so far.
We would welcome your feedback. You can contact us
The social calendar starts to ‘hot up’ in June as local towns and villages embark upon their fetes and festivals. Burford Festival, which runs from 8th to 18thJune, has a very full schedule. If you are visiting the town (during the Festival) please pop in to our shop and pick up a free Jute shopping bag when you spend over £10.00.
June also boasts a number of events that our products are simply made for;
World Gin Day 10th June Cotswold Dry Gin and Warner Edward Rhubarb Gin. Oh my!
National Beer Day 15th June North Cotswold Brewery, Hook Norton Brewery, Prescott Ales, & other local Craft producers – need we say more?
Longborough Festival Opera
National Picnic Week
8th June until
4th August
16th June until 25th June
Why not join the throng, killing two birds with one stone, and take one of our superb picnic hampers to the Opera. They are popular so book early!
Wallace & Gromit Wrong Trouser Day 30th June OK. This is a bit of a push, but you really should try our Wensleydale Richard III. - It’s gorgeous!
And before you say it; No! We haven’t forgotten Father’s Day on 18thJune.
What do you give the man who has everything? Antibiotics?
(Editor’s note! The old ones are not always the best!).
Better still! One of our hampers or a selection specifically suited for him to enjoy?

Choose from our local crafted beers or ciders, hard, soft or blue cheeses and our range of chutneys. We are sure that Dad will be very happy. (Hopefully our kids are listening!).
You can order on line (Err, did we mention that we have a new website?) at or come into our stores.
Cheese has a way of matching the seasons. We think Jonathan Crump’s Singleand Double Gloucester Cheeses are perfect for this time of year. Ideal for a salad, the perfect centre piece of a ploughman’s lunch and a great snack with a glass of beer or cider.

Jonathan’s cheese is made at Standish Park Farm in Oxlynch, near Stonehouse in Gloucestershire. Crafted from pure Gloucester breed cows' milk, Double Gloucester is a traditional hard cheese, which has been made in Gloucestershire since the 16th century.

The "Double" in Double Gloucester; refers to the fact that milk is taken from both the morning and evening milks, giving it a rich, buttery taste and flaky texture. It is firm and biteable, has a fudge-like texture and a sweet, nutty flavour. The colour is bright orange, due to the addition of annatto. It has a natural, slightly mouldy rind and matures for about 3 months. Truly a beautiful cheese, in every sense of the word!
That’s it for another month, but before we scamper!
Cotswold Cheese Company Events coming up;
Local Beer Tasting at Burford             – Saturday 17th June
Cheese Tasting at Burford                   – Saturday 24th June
